The Vision

 Rwanda Design Studios Ltd (RDS) is a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee to empower the people in the village of Shyira, Rwanda, to start income generating ventures and encourage visitors.  Once we’ve proved this works it can be extended to other Rwandan villages.

SUMMARY OF DEVELOPMENT STAGES : 

  1. The Ikirunga Cabins.  This is the initial project to generate income; the design and build of several iconic, memorable cabins for rent to tourists. ALL profits from these rentals will be sent to a new Rwandan Charitable Company which we are setting up at present. This company will then distribute funds as appropriate.

  2. Apprentice training; building team for the Ikirunga Cabins.

  3. Identify further sites for cabins in the South East of Rwanda on the Ikirezi Farms, on Lake Muhazi, in Shyira Village for visiting guests, or in Kigali; each group of cabins will be about 2 hours driving apart.

  4. Shyira Village store.

  5.  Shyira Cultural Centre.

  6. Development of small industries and new ventures for Shyira.

  7. History of Shyira Museum.
